Thomas Smith

Tom Smith brings 21 years of experience in real estate development and construction to the Grand Contracting team. In 2006, he and Justin Brown, started Grand Industrial, which has grown to a $60 million per year mid-size specialty general contractor. Connect with Tom on LinkedIn.

Tom Smith brings 21 years of experience in real estate development, construction, and senior living operations to the Grand Contracting team. In 2006, Tom and partner, Justin Brown, started Grand Industrial, which has grown to a $60 million per year mid-size specialty general contractor. The company predominately constructs in the industrial, manufacturing, and food processing industries. In the same year, Tom and Justin started what has evolved into Grand Contracting, a distinct and separate company, that has abilities to provide services to each other.

Also in 2006, Tom and Justin started Leo Brown Group, a development company that has grown into one of the largest privately held senior living developers and operators in the midwest.

Prior to 2006, Tom earned a degree in Construction Engineering Management from Purdue University. His work experience in the following years included a role as Senior Director of development for Lauth Property Group, where he managed a development portfolio of more than $100 million. Tom also served as Special Projects Director performing construction services in healthcare, office, industrial, and retail market sectors. Prior to Lauth, he worked for R.L. Turner Corporation as a project manager, responsible for construction projects ranging from $2 to $15 million.

In 2012, Tom and partners, Justin Brown and Michael Wagner, started Traditions Management, a service operations company that has grown to a 700-employee management services company providing daily services for Leo Brown Group developments and facilities in the midwest.

In 2017, Tom and Justin brought in Steve Eppink as a new partner of Grand Contracting. The company was redirected to provide Grand Industrial the construction services to build development projects produced by Leo Brown Group Development and/or third-party developers and third-party construction projects to office, healthcare, industrial, and retail market sectors.

Adam Campagna

Adam joined the Grand Contracting leadership team in 2018 and serves as Vice President of Business Development. He is responsible for leading all efforts related to cultivating new client relationships and diversifying the firm’s portfolio of work. Connect with Adam on LinkedIn.

Adam joined the company team in 2018 as Vice President of Business Development. He is responsible for leading all efforts related to cultivating new client relationships and diversifying the firm’s portfolio of work. In addition, Adam oversees all marketing, external engagement, and client management strategies.

Adam earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Indianapolis and brings 11 years of architectural, engineering, and construction experience to Grand Contracting. He serves as a Commissioner for the Carmel Redevelopment Commission and spent more than four years working for a non-profit management firm that specialized in managing construction trade organizations.

Most recently, Adam served as a business development representative for two prominent central Indiana construction firms, where he gained significant experience working with a diverse spectrum of industries, including higher education, corporate office, commercial development, senior living, healthcare, life/bio sciences, and municipalities.

Justin Brown brings 25 years of construction experience to the Grand Contracting team. In 2006, Justin and partner, Tom Smith, started Grand Industrial, which has grown to a $60 million per year mid-size specialty general contractor. The company predominately constructs in the industrial, manufacturing, and food processing industries. Prior to 2006, Justin was a project manager for his father at Leo Brown Construction (LBC) Company, Inc. Upon graduating from Purdue University with a degree in Building Construction Management, Justin began bidding and managing school projects for LBC, which led to steering LBC to industrial projects. Eventually, Justin began his own company dedicated to industrial construction and services.

V.P., PRECONSTRUCTION

Chris Vensel

Chris joined the Grand Contracting leadership team in 2019 as Vice President of Preconstruction, where he oversees the preconstruction, design, and estimating of projects. Connect with Chris on LinkedIn.

Chris joined the company team in 2019 as Vice President of Preconstruction. Chris will work with Terry Myers and the project management team, where he will oversees the preconstruction, design, and estimating of projects.

Chris earned his Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Purdue University and brings 15 years of construction experience to the team. Throughout his career—with constructed work totaling over 3.7 million square feet and over $190,000,000—he has led due diligence, design management, and preconstruction efforts for a variety of commercial products, including grocery stores, multi-family, warehouse, office, retail and athletic facilities.

Prior to joining Grand Contracting, Chris was Director of Preconstruction for Lauth Construction. In previous years, Chris also gained experience with Buckingham Companies and Duke Realty.

Stephen Eppink

Steve joined the Grand Contracting leadership team in 2016 and holds position of President and partner for the company and overseeing all construction and preconstruction operations. Connect with Steve on LinkedIn.

Steve joined the Grand Contracting team in 2016 as President and partner for the company and overseeing all construction and preconstruction operations.

Steve earned his Bachelor of Science in Building Construction and Contracting from Purdue University and brings 36 years of construction experience to the team. He has worked 23 years in the development/design/construction industry and 13 prior years in the design/build construction industry. Steve has built numerous projects in the commercial office, industrial, healthcare, retail, gaming, and institutional markets as a developer and contractor. He has also built projects within these markets, as well as in heavy industrial and petro-chemical markets, as a general contractor and construction manager. With experience working on large-scale projects such as the IBM Solana World Headquarters and French Lick Resort and Casino, Steve has managed projects ranging up to $500 million.

Prior to joining Grand Contracting, Steve was Executive Vice President and partner for Lauth Group. As Executive Vice President, he had the sole responsibility for all pre-construction, site engineering, and construction operations on a national basis for 22 years. In previous years, Steve also gained experience as a project manager for Beck Group (Dallas, TX) and R.L. Turner Corporation.

Terry Myers, LEED AP

Terry joined the Grand Contracting leadership team in 2018. He is the Senior Vice President of Preconstruction and oversees preconstruction, design and estimating of projects. Connect with Terry on LinkedIn.

Terry serves as the Senior Vice President of Preconstruction. He oversees preconstruction, design and estimating of projects.

Terry earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Ball State University. He brings 38 years of construction experience to the team along with LEED AP credentials.

In his early career, Terry worked for several general contractors in managing, estimating, and constructing projects in Indiana and Georgia. During his tenure with Lauth Property Group, Scannell Properties and Thompson Thrift, Terry was involved with preconstruction and operations of commercial office, industrial, healthcare and retail projects across the United States. His experience and expertise led him to work with many companies including Eli Lilly, Fed Ex, Kendall Jackson Wines, John Force Racing, and many more.

Tom joined Grand Contracting in 2017 as a Senior Project Manager, overseeing all facets of each construction project.

Tom earned his Bachelor of Science in Building Construction and Contracting from Purdue University and brings 36 years of construction experience to the company. Most recently, he has 22 years of experience in development, design, and construction with a Fortune 500 international design, engineering, and manufacturing corporation. He has also gained 14 prior years of experience in the development and construction industry. Tom has been involved with 50+ projects in 15 different countries within the commercial office, industrial, manufacturing, and retail environments.

Prior to joining Grand Contracting, Tom was Senior Manager of Corporate Real Estate for Harman International. Here, he secured highly protected risk status (HPR) for all manufacturing facilities, saving the company millions of dollars in annual insurance premiums. In this role, Tom was responsible for nearly all capital real estate projects and development of global design and finish standards. Prior to this, Tom worked as a project manager with Eaton & Lauth and Duke Realty, and he served as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Fiji Islands.

Clay Kelly

Clay joined Grand Contracting in 2019 as Senior Project Manager, overseeing all facets of each construction project. With an emphasis in project management, he has worked for several prominent construction firms. Connect with Clay on LinkedIn.

Clay studied accounting and finance at Purdue University and brings with him over 15 years of total construction experience. With an emphasis in project management, he has worked for several prominent construction firms in a variety projects, including commercial office, retail, laboratory, restaurants, breweries, and light industrial.

Most recently, he worked on The Center (The Heritage Group), Intech 3 Suite 400 (Heritage Environmental), and Finch Creek Fieldhouse (Klipsch-Card Athletic Facilities). Over the past 5 years, he has been involved with approximately $100 million worth of work.

Wesley Runion

Wesley joined Grand Contracting in November 2017 as Project Manager. He is responsible for on-site management of the construction phase. In addition, he provides preconstruction, estimating and project management services to projects that include senior housing and industrial maintenance.

Wesley has 15+ years of construction experience including one and a half years of hurricane relief experience. He has worked on projects that include: Air Force housing, industrial maintenance and construction, commercial construction as well we single-family dwelling residential homes. Most recently, Wesley served as the Director of Construction with our sister company, Grand Industrial.

He has been responsible for the management of project teams that include everyone from architects and engineers to fabricators and manufacturers.

He has been solely responsible for the management of project teams that include everyone from architects and engineers to fabricators and manufacturers, as well as other crucial team members. Joe has worked on projects for Fortune 500 companies, most recently GEICO. He enjoys the fast paced project atmosphere and coming in at or under budget.

Most recently, he directed Field Operations for a large Midwest organization overseeing construction of skilled nursing centers and rapid recovery facilities. In prior years, Mark has had construction experience in medical, retail, industrial and commercial projects.

Todd Terry

Todd joined Grand Contracting in 2019 as Senior Project Superintendent. Specifically, he leads all on-site of levels of jobsite efficiency. Connect with Todd on LinkedIn.

As a Senior Project Superintendent, Todd is responsible for overseeing the construction of the projects he is assigned.

Specifically, he leads all on-site management and supervision, technical management, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, guidance of daily work forces, and maintenance of levels of jobsite efficiency. He is also responsible for implementing both federal and state OSHA regulations and enforcing jobsite safety procedures.

Todd brings with him a proactive management approach and vast industry knowledge with more than 30+ years of experience.

Duane brings 41 years of construction experience. Most recently, he has constructed several assisted living facilities within the mid-west. In prior years, Duane has had construction experience in healthcare, hospitality, retail, residential, automotive and food packaging industries.

Nick earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Operations Management from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business. In addition to his degree, he holds a Certified Public Accountant license and brings eight years of experience to the Grand Contracting team.

In prior roles he has provided strategic guidance to new business segments, as well as driving efficiencies throughout the supply chain.
