Experience
Justin “Judd” Brown brings over 30 years of experience Construction experience to the Grand team. He has varied experience in institutional, agricultural, industrial, and residential markets. Justin and partner, Tom Smith, founded Grand Contracting in 2017, growing it into a $100 million per year construction company.
Prior to 2006, Justin attended Purdue University and studied Construction Management. After Purdue, he returned to his family’s general contracting company. Leo Brown Construction self-performed concrete, carpentry, masonry and excavation work while serving as general contractor. Justin worked mainly in the field starting as a laborer and transitioning through carpenter, foreman, estimator, and project manager.

In 2006, Justin and partner, Tom Smith, founded Leo Brown Group, a real estate development company. Since the formalization, Leo Brown Group has grown into one of the largest, privately held senior living developers in the Midwest.
In 2006, Justin and partner, Tom Smith, founded Grand Industrial, an industrial construction company specializing in millwright, welding and fabrication services for the food processing, agriculture, and steel industries.
In 2012, Justin and partners, Tom Smith, and Michael Wagner, started Traditions Management, a senior living management company. Traditions Management has grown to a 1,500-employee strong company providing daily management services to 19 senior living communities throughout the Midwest.

- Established Grand Industrial in 2006.
- Grew Grand Industrial into an industrial contracting company with annual revenues of $30 Million.
- Provides financial oversight and shared strategic direction of the company.
Leo Brown Group – Real Estate Development
- Established Leo Brown Group in 2006.
- Provides all aspects of the real estate development process including, but not limited to, proforma creation, land acquisition, land entitlement, site design, building design, leasing, permitting, loan closing coordination, construction, and tenant relations.
- Manages a senior housing real estate portfolio valued at more than $750 million.
Traditions Management – Senior Living Operations
- Established Traditions Management in 2012.
- Provides all strategic and financial oversight of Traditions Management.
- Traditions manages 19 senior living communities and 2 geriatric psychiatric hospitals.
Grand Contracting – Commercial Construction
- Established Grand Contracting in 2017.
- Grew Grand Contracting to annual revenues of $100 Million per year.
